2020 started the year off with a bang in more than one way. Prior to us knowing that we were entering a Pandemic or the ramifications of such an event I conducted my first Vision Board Workshop at Little Tree Art Studios.

Vision Board Workshop “Visions of Paris 2020”

Denise was so excited that she would be joining her daughter in France this year. Unfortunately this trip is on hold due to COVID-19. She’s to be able to visit soon and share her artwork inspired by such a trip. Where will you be traveling once it’s safe to travel?

This collage entitled “Paint and Paper Visions” depicts the work I love to create in the studio. I often include found objects, manipulated paper and textural effects to the personalized collages created for my clients. “Paint and Paper Visions” - Mixed Media Collage with manipulated paper

Vacation photos make great material for collage. Denise likes to include family and friends she meets in her travels into her own personal collages. In English “Pura Vida” means “Pure Life” and is often used to say “hello,”, “goodbye” or even to let fellow Ticos (Costa Ricans) know “Everything is Good”. Denise included bright textural fabric to delineate the pureness of nature found throughout the Costa Rican countryside. “Pura Vida Costa Rica” - Mixed Media Collage, serves as a reminder that we all yearn to live in peaceful surroundings.

Upon returning from this awesome trip I was inspired to create another Santa Fe collage that was accepted for display at the Hudgens Center for the Arts and Learning, Duluth, GA with the Atlanta Collage Society entitled: “Santa Fe Skies” - Mixed Media Collage

Women Inspired to Paint New Mexico

In addition to preparing work to submit into several juried shows Denise participated in her first ZOOM Artist Talk in August 2020 with renowned Plein Air painter Kathy Rennell Forbes. It was great revisiting the 2019 trip the Georgia O’Keeffe Ghost Ranch. They shared different perspectives through the eyes of the many artists. “Serenity Amongst the Orange Skies” included photos of the participants and highlights of the trip.
